updates

April

    • We finalized the Tiered Intervention Approach to utilize when the students violate the school’s Drug, Alcohol, Tobacco, and E-cigarette Policy. Our next meeting will be set in April to review how everything is going.
    • We proposed an ordinance of the city of Cascade, ID establishing location and operational restrictions on new vape and tobacco shops; prohibiting establishment of new shops within 1,000 feet of certain sensitive uses, including designated safe routes to school; establishing licensing, enforcement, signage, and zoning requirements; providing for penalties, severability, codification, and an effective date. The City Council supported the initiative and approved the ordinance change!
    • Cascade High School and Junior High have begun implementing HOPE Squad, with 9 student members. HOPE Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program that encourages connection and intervention for students, directing those in need to trusted adults to get the best help possible.
  •
    • Cascade students brought creativity and connection to their Hope Week activities, engaging peers in meaningful and fun ways. They served “Hope Floats” at lunch, inviting students to share what gives them hope and contributing their responses to a paper chain now displayed in their meeting room. Throughout the week, students also greeted peers at the doors with Life Savers and notes of encouragement, and hosted a lively rock-paper-scissors game that sparked interaction across the school and ended with a prize for the winner. The week concluded with a sea of red as the entire school showed support. The Hope Floats event drew the largest participation, helping raise awareness about Hope Squad and its impact.
    • March 12, 2026 Book Trivia will be held at the Cascade Cultural Arts Center. To get involved please email Shauna Arnold at shaunaarnold@horizonsleteam.org
